One Hans Pfaall. An extraordinary story, penned by the renowned author Edgar Allan Poe, about a man who makes a journey from Rotterdam to the moon in 1835.
A change of perspective
in 19 days
Hans Pfaall, born and bred in Rotterdam, is fed up with toiling only to eke out a meager existence. His heart set on a new beginning, he goes about building his own hot-air balloon. One day, in 1835, he boards and embarks on an adventurous journey to the moon, floating past oceans, stars and planets. During his voyage, Pfaall sees his perspective on life on earth change. It takes him only 19 days to reach the moon, and five years to begin pining for Rotterdam once more…
